Big Doors are what we call our oversized patio doors and glass wall systems. These are large glass doors that transform living spaces in ways few other design elements can, opening entire sections of your home to the outdoors for resort-like experiences wherever you live. We have options that can fit into an existing space, disappear into your wall, or even go around a corner or curve. Dive into the details below and discover answers to your biggest questions.
Our oversized sliding glass doors are engineered for smooth and easy operation, giving you design freedom with the performance and innovation you expect from Andersen.
Our premier moving glass wall door, designed with precision engineering for near effortless operation.
Designed for a singularly sleek, modern look. Instead of swinging on a hinge, these glass doors rotate on a precision engineered pivot. Perfect for true design lovers — make a statement with a pivot front door.
A different approach to removing the lines between indoors and out. When open, these moving glass walls fold up to beautifully frame your view. When closed, they create a stately wall of light.
Our exterior bifold doors maximize large openings with a robust designed hardware system that supports large panels without sacrificing ease of operation.

With sizes up to 60 feet wide and 16 feet tall, Big Doors open up your entire view and let you take it all in.

Completely open a corner with or without a corner post, or choose options with curved glass and tracks.

Whether on the coast or up north, remodel or new build, our options make luxury living possible everywhere.

Located in the Santa Lucia Preserve between Carmel-by-the-Sea and Big Sur in California, this home takes full advantage of its surroundings with our Liftslide Door, which opens up two walls at once. The result is a home that’s “deeply immersed in the surrounding landscape and incorporates meaningful and efficient sustainable design strategies.”

To fully embrace the fresh forest air and breathtaking views of Lake Superior, this homeowner chose our MultiGlide™ Door. The wood interior finish fits in with the natural surroundings, and a gliding screen keeps bugs at bay when needed. This cabin home also features our 400 Series Casement Windows with contemporary profiles and one of our Pivot Doors at the entrance.

Interior designer Jessica Davis chose this Folding Pass-Through Window to create a strong connection to the outdoors since it folds open all the way with ease. "It’s nice that we have that connection no matter what room you’re in,” she says. “To have the windows open and hear my kids outside playing.”

Our two-panel glass Pivot Door makes for a perfect entry to this modern, airy California home thanks to its floor-to-ceiling glass panels, wide opening, and lack of traditional hinges.

This remodel proves that adding livable square footage to an existing home doesn’t always mean expanding the footprint. Here, our Folding Outswing Door opens up entirely new spaces for indoor/outdoor living within the home’s existing footprint.

This 1950s ranch-style home in Ann Arbor, Michigan was completely transformed by our Folding Outswing Door into a bright and airy retreat, which the owner says is “like something you’d see in L.A.”

By having two Liftslide Doors, this Sonoma farmhouse merges north and south patios with the living room. “A big reason that we like the Liftslide by Andersen is because of the flush threshold with the high-performance drainage track,” says architect Nick Lee of Nick Lee Architecture.

Pro remodeler and HGTV host Laurie March and her husband used our MultiGlide️™ Door to seamlessly extend their bedroom living space into an outdoor retreat.
While we design all our Big Doors to be easy to open, our Liftslide Door features a unique lifting design with rollers that gives it a more weightless feel than a traditional sliding door. Our Pivot Door is also luxuriously smooth, pivoting open on a single-axis pivot point and closing with a smooth assist that requires very little effort. On our MultiGlide™ Door, you can select automatic openings to open and close with the touch of a button.
Generally speaking, our MultiGlide™ Door, Liftslide Door, and Multi-Slide Door can all offer a thin contemporary frame and panoramic views, with the product size you choose influencing which will give you the most glass. Here’s a quick summary:
For the thinnest frames: Look at our MultiGlide Door with panel profiles of only 2.75 inches. These thin panel profiles can combine to create a view that’s 50 feet wide and 10 feet tall.
If you live in Arizona, California, New Mexico, Nevada, or Texas: You can go even thinner with our Aluminum Multi-Slide Door with panels that have a 2.5-inch rails (top and bottom of the door panel) and 1.39-inch stiles (sides of the door panel), which can combine to create a view that’s 44 feet wide and 12 feet tall.
For the biggest sizes with the most glass: Look at our Liftslide Door, which can be up to 60 feet wide and 16 feet tall. The individual glass panels that make up this door can also be up to 14 feet wide with narrow 3.5-inch profiles for the largest amount of glass of any of our Big Doors.
Keep in mind that you can configure all of our Big Doors with thin frames and incredible views since all have profile options under 4 inches and can open up entire walls of your home.
