Kristy Wicks: Front door
The new entry door not only makes a bold design statement from the outside, but the clear glass also allows more light to enter the home.
After installing three sets of Andersen® French doors, blogger Kristy Wicks was ready to tackle the entry.
Her original front door was over 22 years old, with dents to prove it. As her home features an open concept floor plan, the entry door is on display from most angles and wasn't cutting it. It also felt off-centered, with a sidelight on only one side.

Selecting the product
Because Kristy's front door got direct sunlight most of the day, her dealer at Dolan Lumber recommended the protection of aluminum clad material. The clad door is the perfect long-term solution to 100 degree days. Even though she thought she’d had always wanted pure wood, Kristy felt comfortable with the new material direction after learning about the benefits and seeing it in person where she could feel the quality.

The details
Exterior
The door features a specified equal light grille pattern, raised panel, and bright brass hardware to strike against the black of the door.
Interior
Inside, the door is a neutral white, blending into the walls while light steams in. Kristy also chose to match the hardware and crown moulding with the existing style of the inside of the house.
