How do I change the grille pattern?
In order to offer the maximum number of options within the smallest possible file, Andersen’s Revit Families use pattern numbers to adjust the grilles. Different options are listed in the gray text. In order to change the grille pattern, find the appropriate pattern number listed and enter it into the “Enter Pattern Number” Parameter.

How do I change the grille bar size?
The available grille bar sizes are listed above the “Grille Bar Size” Parameter within the Type Parameters. Enter the desired grille bar size into the “Grille Bar Size” Parameter. 

I have units that are the same type and size, but need different grilles and colors. How do I create these?
Andersen has created color and grille parameters at the Type level in order to optimize computer performance. A Type can easily be duplicated within the Type Properties dialogue box. With two Types representing the same size unit within the project, they can be modified independently from one another to represent different options.

How do I create custom sizes?
Andersen has created our families with the Type Catalogues necessary to represent our standard sizes. Types can easily be altered within the Type Properties. We recommend that you duplicate the Type, rename it with the new size, and update the other Type Properties to reflect the custom product. Consult product information to determine the limits of custom sizes.

How do I load a different panel into an E-Series Hinged door family?
In order to provide Revit users with the full variety of options in our E-Series products while minimizing file size, we’ve supplied Revit users with a Revit family of our hinged door products and all the necessary door panels. The existing panel in the family can be swapped out with using the typical motions of adding a Nested Family.

Open the rfa file of the door you wish to modify. From the Create Tab, select Component and Load Family. Select the panel you want from the E-Series Door Panel family.

Select Modify and click on the door panel. Select the new panel from the drop down list at the top of the Properties Palette. Repeat this step for each panel.

If desired, the original panel can be deleted from the family in order to decrease file size. Save your edited family or select Load into Project.

Can I use Andersen Revit Families to represent StormWatch®, or Coastal, products?
Yes. The profiles of the coastal sashes and frames do not differ from our traditional products, however you will need to be aware of the differences in coastal detailing. In general, these units are installed with a jamb clip and have impact resistant glass, which can be easily added to the unit in a Section View. Consult product information for the specific installation necessary for each product.

Will the default rough opening offset be large enough for my specific project?
The default values in the “Rough Opening Offset” Parameter reflect the minimum rough openings in our standard installation instructions. Designers should consider the specifics of the project’s wall construction and adjust the “Rough Opening Offset” Parameter appropriately.

Which Analytic Properties are used in the families?
Where Analytic Properties are present, they reflect values for Low-E4 SmartSun™ glazing without grilles. The highly adaptable E-Series products have been modeled without analytic properties to provide a blank canvas. If you wish to adjust the analytic properties to match the specifics of your project, the values can be found in our product guides. Open the rfa file and enter the appropriate values into the Family Types dialogue box.
